Although Wichita State University’s state-of-the-art labs offer all the necessary software and computer facilities for its students, here are some recommended specifications if you will be purchasing a laptop for college.
CPU: Minimum Intel 11th generation Intel i5 (12th generation recommended but not essential) or AMD Ryzen equivalent
RAM: Minimum 16GB
Storage: Minimum 256GB SSD (solid state drive)
Graphics: If you plan to do any 3D modeling, consider getting a dedicated graphics card, such as Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 or AMD
While we do not recommend specific brands or models of laptops, MacBooks and Chromebooks are not recommended due to compatability issues with some software programs.
