Our Blueprint for Student Success
The Engineering Student Success Center is a team of staff in the College of Engineering who work passionately and tirelessly to support our students. We do this through a variety of programs, initiatives, activities, and one-on-one engagement with students. The center was created in 2012 through a grant from the State of Kansas. In 2021, the center began an extensive strategic planning process to create a plan for elevating student success in the coming years.
The planning process begin with envisioning the future. We created a bold vision that articulates what we aspire to become. We defined our mission—the shared purpose of our work. We also developed a set of core values to communicate what we believe in and care about. With our new vision, mission, and values as our guidepost, we engaged our staff, as well as students and faculty, in a series of brainstorming and planning sessions to identify our key priorities over the next three years. The result of our seven-month planning process is this strategic plan.
Below is our 2022-2025 Blueprint for Student Success. This plan builds upon the well-establish programs and resources offered through the center and articulates new areas of growth in how we support students and prepare them for success within and beyond the College of Engineering. The plan is built around four strategic focus areas that align with our vision, mission, and core values. Focus areas are the strategic initiatives around which we organize our work and allocate our resources. Each focus area has 1-2 objectives, which are tied to the university's goals as outlined in the university's strategic plan, strategic enrollment management plan, and diversity, equity, and inclusion plan.
We are a national model for student success in which engineering and computing students are empowered to take ownership of their educational experience and achieve academic and career excellence.
