Placement Exam

If you do not meet the prerequisites for enrolling directly into mathematics courses you can take our Placement Exam to find what course you can enroll in.

Scheduled placement exams are given throughout the year. Consult the WSU schedule of courses or this online file for scheduled dates and times. Reservations are not necessary for the scheduled tests.

You may schedule special times with permission at the main campus in the Math office by contacting Janise at 978-5230 a $10 charge for the placement will be added to your WSU account as soon as the score is entered in the system. The Westside campus also conducts individual placements at 978-6777 if that is more convenient for you.

If you are taking the placement at other locations there is a $20 charge (Testing and Counseling Center, West Campus, and South Campus) $10 is for the proctoring at these locations and $10 is for the Math Dept entering the score into the system. You may also pay online, in person at Jardine Hall 201, or by mailbox to 38.

Bring the following:

  • my WSU ID card or Photo ID
  • (Your birth date will be required if you do not have a my WSU ID card)

  • Pencils (no pens, markers, etc.)

The placement exam has a time limit of 1 hour and consists of 32 multiple choice questions. The exam will be graded before you leave.

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early so all students can be checked in and begin the test on time.
