By the 1950s, the North End had developed into one of Wichita's business centers. Most businesses existed on a stretch of twenty first street from Broadway on the east to appoximately Arkansas on the west. One of the Mexican Markets was Mammels Food Market at the corner of 21st Street and Arkansas.
