Undergrad Course Offerings | 2026

POLS 321 | Introduction to Public Administration
Learn the basics of public administration and ethics, looking at both historical and modern issues in the field. You’ll learn how public servants work to help citizens by making decisions that benefit the most people, along with key topics like leadership, budgeting, and community involvement.


PADM 350 | Public Policy Processes
Explore how public policies are made in the United States and learn how to think about complicated issues and solutions in a democratic way.


PADM 351 | Managing People in Government and Nonprofit Organizations
This course is ideal for students interested in human resources or nonprofit work, with an emphasis on the role of people within these organizations. Explore the impact of federal and state laws on managerial decisions and the significance of organizational culture for a positive work environment.


PADM 405 | Contemporary Issues in Democratic Governance

Section A: Democracy in Action
In this course, students will study important issues in democracy and governance in the U.S. and other countries, focusing on how democracy can be supported or weakened. It will also cover the role of public managers in protecting democratic values.

Section B (Online Course): U.S. State Governance
This course will examine current challenges in democratic governance in the U.S. states and how various democratic institutions cooperate in the federal system.


PADM 550A | Public Administration Issues (Summer Course)

This course looks at the importance of public service and democracy in today's world. You’ll explore topics such as public service motivation theory, the use of AI and e-government in service delivery, and the challenges posed by bureaucratic red tape and citizen-government interactions.
