Design & Technical Theatre BFA

A Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Performing Arts - Design and Technical Theatre provides you with a comprehensive, hands-on training in costuming, stagecraft, lighting and electrics, stage management, & scenic, lighting, and costume design. You will step immediately into production roles, serving as designers and leaders from their first year. Through work in production shops & realized performances, you will apply technical & creative skills in real-world settings. Guided by experienced faculty, you will develop the artistry, collaboration, and technical expertise needed for professional careers in theatre and live production & entertainment. 

 

 

As a Design & Technical Theatre (BFA) Major You Can...

  • Be involved in productions through management, design, or technology every semester of study
  • Learn from nationally and internationally recognized faculty
  • Have opportunities to design, manage, or crew classical and contemporary plays, musicals, dance, and film productions in three theatres and on location
  • Engage in all areas of production: costume, lighting, scenic, properties as well as technology, management, directing and film
  • Create original work through classroom laboratories, production participation, student-driven projects and senior capstone projects
  • Have the opportunity to travel to conferences and workshops hosted by organizations such as the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, and travel on an annual trip to NYC
