- Dates: End of May to June – the dates for the program are very flexible depending on the student and usually will be for 3 or 4 weeks in length during the months of May and June.
- Open to students who are at least sophomore level in College of Applied Studies pursuing a teaching degree
- Students are placed in a private school in Paraguay for a student teaching experience. The schools generally have bilingual programs so the teaching experience is for classes taught in English (no Spanish language required). Although, if students are fluent in Spanish, then they can have the option to be placed in classes where the language of instruction is Spanish.
The program is open to students who are at least sophomore level in College of Applied Studies pursuing a teaching degree. No Spanish language is needed!

- Visit sites including museums and other places of interest
- Learn about other cultures
- Experience Paraguay schools and education system
- International teaching experience in schools in Paraguay (observe and learn from their staff)
- Program Fee of $600:
- Orientation
- In-country transportation
- Housing (homestay)
- Most meals
- Placement in a private school
- Additional Costs (not included in program fee) $1,800:
- Roundtrip flight from Wichita and airline baggage fees
- Health Insurance
- Extra meals not provided by host family
- Personal expenses

Flights:
- Students will be responsible for purchasing their own roundtrip flight, which provides the student flexibility on when they would like to arrive/depart Paraguay in the case they would like to travel to other cities or countries before or after the program
- Students can ask for guidance on purchasing flights. You can also check out our tips on booking flights.
- Fly in and out of Asunción, Paraguay (ASU airport code)
- Most flights from Wichita will have 1 layover in the U.S. (typically Houston, Atlanta or Dallas) and then, 1 layover in Latin America (typically Panama City, Panama, Santiago, Chile, or São Paulo, Brazil)
Housing:
- Students will stay with a host family
- Each host family generally has at least 1 English speaker, and many have children that have studied in the U.S.
Transportation
- Transportation is provided to/from your school placement.
Complete the General WSU Study Abroad Application Form
Complete payment of $30 WSU Study Abroad application fee and $100 administrative fee (charged to WSU student account) – once your application has been submitted you will receive instructions on completing these payments (the $100 fee is included in the program fee of $600, but charged separately)
