Intensive English with One Graduate Class
Graduate applicants who are admissible to a graduate degree program but have not yet met Wichita State University's English requirement can begin taking one graduate-level class while improving their English language skills at Wichita State University's Intensive English Language Center. Because an academic I-20 cannot be issued before the English proficiency requirement is met, this option allows graduate students without an acceptable English score for full graduate admission to receive an I-20 for English language study instead.
Students who are admissible to a graduate program may enroll in 3 Intensive English classes and 1 graduate-level class if:
- Student completes an application for admission with required materials to the Intensive English Language Center.
 - Student meets one of the part-time graduate/Intensive English requirements from the
                     table below.

- English Test results must be issued within the last 2 years for consideration.

| English Test | Required Score to Take One Graduate Class |
|---|---|
| TOEFL (iBT) | 69-78 |
| IELTS | 6.0 |
| PTE Academic | 50-57 |
| Duolingo English Test | 110-114 |
IMPORTANT NOTE: Graduate students must still fulfill the English requirement established by their
graduate program in order to begin full-time graduate study. Graduate students completing the Intensive English program at Wichita State may meet the Graduate
School's English proficiency requirement by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.00 in
levels 1 through 6, and a grade of B-plus or higher in level 7.  However, some programs
have higher requirements for English proficiency.
