About the Course

This four-day course covers introductory through advanced topics, delivered in a straightforward explanation of Geometric Product Specification (GPS) in accordance with the ISO 1101: 2017 standard.

This course covers the principles, concepts, and applications of GPS tailored to manufacturing.  Topics include defining geometric tolerances, interpreting engineering drawings, understanding datum references, and applying GPS in manufacturing processes. GPS is widely used in various industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, space, and agriculture to ensure part quality and interchangeability. GPS facilitates communication between designers, engineers, and manufacturers – ultimately contributing to the production of high-quality parts and assemblies.

Attendees will gain a clarified understanding of the ISO standard and the ability to communicate using symbology and alignment strategies.

Attendees are encouraged to bring examples of real-world drawings for the class to review and learn from.

Attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion from WSU’s National Institute for Aviation Research.
