Overview

As Director of the Advanced Materials and Processes and NCAMP, Royal Lovingfoss oversees a robust staff of research scientists, engineers, technicians and students working on a multi-million dollar portfolio of proprietary industry, FAA and Department of Defense programs, including material allowable programs ranging from thermoset composites to ceramics, metal and polymer additive manufactured materials.

Lovingfoss is a chemist with more than twenty years of experience. He has worked in NIAR’s Advanced Materials Lab in various leadership roles since 2008. Prior to joining Wichita State, he held positions at Toray Composites America, Microsoft and Am Test Air-Quality.

His instrument expertise includes elipsometry, contact angle, FTIR, UV-Vis spectophotometry, MS-GC, AA, NMR, HPLC, x-ray fluorescence, DSC and particle sizing.

He holds a B.S. in chemistry and a minor in mathematics from the University of Washington.
