January 28, 2026

We are pleased to acknowledge those who received awards in December 2025.  So far in FY2026, WSU researchers under Academic Affairs have submitted external proposals in the amount of $42,973,134 and received $19,434,743 in external awards.

Please note the availability of a limited Kansas NSF EPSCoR funding opportunity, for the NSF E-RISE program.  More information can be found in the funding opportunities section of this newsletter, along with a link to the recording of the webinar held by the KS NSF EPSCoR office, which can be found with the office of research past recordings here

Reminder: Academic Affairs, the Office of Research, and Information Technology Services (ITS) have issued surveys focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) aimed at establishing an AI inventory – a reliable, campus-wide picture of current AI use and future needs.   The AI surveys may be found here, and responses are requested through January 30, 2026. An additional survey focusing on High-Performance Computing (HPC) will be issued in early February to gather data to help shape campus HPC/secure compute, storage, support, and grant strategy.

WSU leadership continues to carefully monitor the impact of any executive orders on our research programs.  If you receive any communication from a federal sponsor, please continue to forward that information to your respective office of research.  And as always, if you have questions about the content of this newsletter, please contact us at research@wichita.edu
