COVID Variant FAQ

I got the vaccine. Will that make my PCR test come out positive?

NO – tests processed at the MDL are not affected by the vaccine.

Can MDL detect the strains of COVID-19 that have the viral mutations I see in the news?

YES – currently the MDL COVID-19 RT-PCR tests will be positive for all known strains of SARS-CoV-2.

Patient FAQ

Does the MDL keep my DNA or use my DNA for any testing?

Who can administer testing?

Saliva testing is designed to be a self-administered, contact-free test. Saliva tests have to be administered with a trained observer overseeing the specimen collection. Every testing partner will have a minimum of one trained observer who will receive training during the Partner Testing Onboard training.

Nasopharyngeal and Oropharyngeal swab testing require a medical professional to administer the test collection. Testing Partners who choose to test via nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swab will have to acquire their own medical professional. A medical professional will not be provided by the MDL.

How do I get my test kits?

Test kits are available for pickup as soon as Testing Partners have completed their onboard training. If you are reordering kits, those kits will be ready within 5 business days. Test kits are available for request/purchase HERE.

I have samples that need to be processed. How do I get them to MDL to be processed?

If unable to return specimen samples within 12 hours, place the sample in a refrigerator until the sample can be returned to the lab.
