Welcome to the Office of Purchasing

The mission of the Office of Purchasing is to support the university community by acquiring the proper quantity and quality of goods and services at the right time and place.

We are located in the basement of Morrison Hall, which is close to the southeast corner of Shocker Hall.

The office employs five people. Our job is to help the employees of WSU navigate the procurement statutes that govern our purchasing environment. We will assist you in making the correct choices early in your process so you can more efficiently purchase the goods and services needed to support your teaching, research, or operations within your department. After processing a Purchase Requisition in Banner, be sure to send an email to us at purchasing.office@wichita.edu with the quote included and the requisition number listed in the subject line. This will help ensure that your requisition will be processed in a timely manner.


Business Procurement Card (BPC) Program

Wichita State University has established a VISA Business Procurement Card (BPC) program for authorized WSU representatives. The purpose of the program is to provide an efficient cost effective method of payment to resolve the financial hardship associated with ongoing expenses required of WSU representatives in fulfilling their overall job requirements and department mission.

Business Procurement Card Application

All Applicants requesting a Business Procurement Card for Official Business use only, are asked to complete the BPC Application and return it to Box 12.

Training Requirements

Training for the BPC Card is required before a card can be issued. This training provides instructions on the use of the WSU Business Procurement Card. Attendance is limited to individuals authorized for program participation by their Budget Officer. Training will focus on allowable use of account, spending limitations, documentation of purchases and compliance with WSU and State of Kansas Purchasing, Accounting and Travel policies and procedures.

To sign up for training

Go to the "myWSU" training portal. Search the keyword "VISA". All options available for the Procurement Card and/or the iTravel Card will populate. Select the option that best fits your schedule.

GENERAL NOTICES

Wichita State University encourages developers interested in collaborating in support of the WSU Innovation Campus, to submit proposals or expressions of interest to the Office of Purchasing. WSU Property – Notice of Intention to Lease

The university has available office or laboratory space available for lease. The university will consider leasing such space to those whose presence on campus would advance the university’s applied learning vision or its mission as an educational, cultural and economic driver for Kansas and the greater public good. Because tenant use must be a good fit with the university’s educational mission and available space, please be prepared to provide the following information: (1) name; (2) square footage of space needs; (3) equipment, design or other special needs; (4) description of anticipated use; and (5) the anticipated benefits to the university, its students and the WSU community (i.e. applied learning, joint research, faculty start-up, etc.). The university will consider serious offers and inquiries from any financially qualified individual, group, organization, or company.
