Conference Theme
The wonderful POWER Conference has been around for 21 years now. We want to use this
year to celebrate the continued growth of the conference. We will be celebrating the
21st annual POWER conference! The theme for the 2024 conference is, The POWER of Action: Social Work Vanguards at the Forefront of Change. The world has changed so much since the pandemic and so has social work. This year’s
conference we wish to discuss change driven action in social work, learn macro practice
techniques, develop advocacy and leadership, and look to social work futures and new
practice modalities. There are many fields of social work we can reimagine and strengthen,
such as schools, communities, forensic, healthcare, child welfare, self-care, and
other fields of practice. Today our society faces serious interrelated and large-scale challenges, violence,
substance abuse, environmental degradation, injustice, isolation, and equality. We
need social workers to reimagine how we work in our new society current/post-pandemic.
Is there a solid foundation of practice that we forgot about? Is there a current trend
that is showing promising results? Do you have an idea for building advocacy and leadership
for Social Workers? How are you promoting change-driven action in your workplaces
and in the community? We want you to share with the POWER conference so that your
work can be echoed in the community.
