Objectives
Thursday, April 27
- Identify three safe ways to react to an active threat situation in a medical setting.
- Discuss components of a temporary pacemaker and strategies to manage pacemaker malfunctions and postoperative dysrhythmias.
- Define indications, potential benefits, and key nursing considerations of utilizing ketamine for pain control, analgosedation, and intubation.
- Explore precipitating risk factors, clinical presentation and interventions to manage patients with Diabetic Ketoacidosis and Hyperglycemic Hyperosmolar Syndrome.
- Discuss various types of pulmonary complications related to right heart disease including treatment modalities such as fluid management and mechanical ventilation.
Friday, April 28
- Describe the color coding groups used in mass casualty triage as well as proper use of a combat application tourniquet.
- Review evolving research and evidence related to Covid 19 and utilize case studies to discuss care, treatment guidelines and management of acute stroke in this patient population.
- Explain vasopressor titration in patients with septic shock utilizing the Surviving Sepsis Campaign Guidelines.
- Evaluate current research and literature for application in Neuro Critical Care clinical practice.
- Examine causes and treatment options for acute kidney injury and explore Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) guidelines as they relate to critically ill patients across multiple patient populations.
Continuing Education
The Wichita State University College of Health Professions is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for 15 contact hours (7.5 contact hours per day) applicable for RN, LPN, or LMHT relicensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing provider number: LT 0090-0327.
EMS: Self-submit to applicable licensing agency.
*Continuing Nursing Education credits and EMS credits will be available up to 9 days after the conference has ended. Participants must watch the sessions in their entirety and complete the evaluation by 11:59 pm on Sunday, May 7 in order to receive credit.
The Wesley Medical Center CEU Evaluator has approved this program for 15 hours of Live Respiratory Continuing Education (7.5 contact hours per day) on behalf of the Kansas Respiratory Care Society, a chapter society of the AARC.
