Initiating Authority
- Human Resources serves as the initiating authority for this policy.
-
Purpose
- The State of Kansas has recognized the valuable contribution that Veterans and persons
with Disabilities make to the state government workforce by adopting employment and
promotion preferences for Veterans and persons with a Disability under K.S.A. Sections
44-1139, et seq. and 73-201, et seq. The purpose of this policy is to align the University's

-
Policy
- The University shall give a Veterans Preference in the employment and promotion of
qualifying Veterans.
- The University shall give a Disability Preference in the employment and promotion
of qualifying persons with a Disability.
- Being eligible for a Veterans or Disability Preference does not guarantee that an
applicant will be offered the position, but it does guarantee a first-level interview
if the applicant is competent and qualified for the position by meeting all minimum
job requirements of the position for which they applied.
- To be considered for a Veterans or Disability Preference, applicants must submit all
required documentation to the University's Office of Human Resources in accordance
with the procedures set forth in this policy. All required documentation should be
submitted before the closing date for applications. Applicants who are unable to provide
the documentation prior to the position closing date must contact the Office of Human
