Feb. 27, 2025 — The College of Engineering at Wichita State University is hosting its 25th annual Shocker MINDSTORMS Challenge, a robotics competition for area students in third through eighth grade or ages eight through 14 years old. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 1. The competition portion will be in the Heskett Center, while the awards ceremonies will be in Hubbard Hall, room 208.

Physical Therapy pediatric team

Feb. 26, 2025 – Faculty members on the pediatric team in Wichita State’s Department of Physical Therapy have been awarded a prestigious grant from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation’s 2024 Priority Impact Quality of Life grants program. The $35,000 grant will provide access to assistive technology to help students in public schools with physical disabilities.

Feb. 25, 2025 — The National Endowment for the Humanities recently awarded a Wichita State University faculty member $150,000 to further develop a smartphone application that allows visually impaired people to read materials rich in visual content.

Open Streets ICT – WSU & Shocker Neighborhood

Open Streets ICT returns to Wichita State University’s campus and neighborhood on April 13 with the goal of connecting with young people. Around 8,000 people participated in Open Streets ICT – WSU & Shocker Neighborhood in 2024, double the amount from the previous year.

Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University. Feb. 17, 2025 — The College of Engineering at Wichita State University is hosting a free Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day event, commonly known as Girl Day, for high school students from Wichita and the surrounding area. The event will be from 9:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20 in the Rhatigan Student Center at WSU.

The Wichita State University School of Music hosted the prestigious West Central National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) auditions on November 17–18, bringing over 400 vocalists to campus. This transformative event celebrated musical artistry and allowed Wichita State students to compete on their home stage.

The results were remarkable, with WSU singers earning top placements across divisions. Notably, senior Aria Beert was awarded the prestigious title of Singer of the Year and secured 1st place in the Senior Classical Treble category. Other highlights included Kaitlyn Rongish (1st place, Freshman Classical Treble), Hayley Loya (1st place, Freshman Music Theater Treble), and Kyree Thomas (2nd place in two divisions).

More than 30 WSU students participated, many advancing to semi-finals and finals, showcasing extraordinary talent and dedication. Their achievements exemplify the School of Music’s mission to Dare to Dream and inspire through the arts.
