The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University announces the launch of SPERO, an organization aimed at unlocking the potential of Wichita and its citizens. SPERO, which is Latin for “hope,” has a dual focus: preparing individuals to transform their lives through meaningful employment and guiding the efforts of citizens and organizations acting to advance Wichita’s prosperity. For its inaugural year, SPERO will benefit from a $400,000 contribution from the Charles Koch Foundation.

Aug. 29, 2024 - Wichita State University is welcoming vendors for its fall Shocktoberfest celebration. The deadline for merchants and vendors to join in the Shocktoberfest Family Weekend events is Aug. 31.Shocktoberfest is a public event Sept. 30-Oct. 5 open to the entire campus and Wichita-area community. It is WSU's biggest annual celebration of Shocker pride.

Aug. 26, 2024 - Casey Ratzlaff, a sport management major at Wichita State, will play in the men’s open division in the Paris Paralympics Games starting in late August. He is the top-ranked American and seeded No. 13 in the 64-man field.

The nine competencies are designed to help students to have a clearer understanding of what skills they are developing by taking specific classes as liberal arts and sciences majors. They also promote the value of a liberal arts and sciences education and incorporate skills employers value in employees.

Through the evaluation of personal correspondence, diaries, annotations and a miscellany of other vehicles of communication, Roussel’s research brings attention to the strategies employed by women writers in the sixteenth century to demonstrate their intellect and morality in a society which discouraged their individuation.

Aug. 21, 2024 — Wichita State University has been named the 2024-25 Academic Institution of the Year by the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), the nation’s largest association dedicated to fostering Hispanic leadership in the STEM field.

Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University is pleased to announce that accomplished entrepreneur Chris Wright will serve as its Entrepreneur-in-Residence for the Fall 2024 semester. Wright, the founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of the Board of Liberty Energy (NYSE: LBRT), based in Denver, Colorado, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the role.
