Oct. 28, 2022 —Dr. Jennifer Friend has been named dean of Wichita State University’s College of Applied Studies (CAS), effective Jan. 9, 2023.

The  Dean’s Alumni Advisory Board  for the W. Frank Barton School of Business has appointed new leaders. Erin Cummings, owner and founder of YESyoga, will serve as president, while Ryan Potter, director of Portfolio Development at Koch Investment Group, will serve as her vice president. Cummings and Potter have both sat on the board since 2020.

Oct. 21, 2022 - Andrew Stockmann, a 2020 Wichita State University graduate and sport management major, is in his second year hosting “Hallowed Ground: The Sports Museum Podcast.”

Oct. 20, 2022 — The FirePoint Innovations Center at Wichita State University wrapped up the second year of its Future Innovators Program, an engineering internship opportunity that provides some of America’s brightest engineers from historically under-represented communities the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and programs that directly support the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Center and the Department of Defense.

Oct. 20, 2022 – The Physician Assistant program at Wichita State University celebrated its 50th anniversary with a celebration for alumni, faculty, staff, students and supporters.

Oct. 19, 2022 — Following a national search, Wichita State University’s newly restructured alumni organization — the WSU Foundation and Alumni Engagement — has hired Stacie Williamson as its new vice president for alumni engagement, effective Nov. 28.

Oct. 18, 2022 — Wichita State University student organizations, the Community Service Board, and fraternity and sororities completed 13,857 service hours in fiscal year 2022. That time reflects a growing interest in and emphasis on community service by students and faculty, said Gabriel Fonseca, director of Student Engagement, Advocacy & Leadership

Oct. 8, 2022 - Conner Williamson is immersed in Industry 4.0 as an operations/system analyst at The Smart Factory @ Wichita, one of Wichita State University’s newest partners on the Innovation Campus.

Oct. 26, 2022 — Wichita State and other adjacent regional universities were recently included in a grant to expand access for remote use of Oklahoma State University’s supercomputer. The computer can process large amounts of data at once and is housed at the OSU Stillwater campus.

Oct. 14, 2022 - Savannah Paschal, a senior Spanish education major at Wichita State, wrote a proposal that helped Alce su voz earn a $75,000 Building Power and Equity Partnership grant from the Kansas Health Foundation. The grant will support civic engagement and the group’s work toward health equity for Spanish speakers and speakers of indigenous languages in Kansas.
