Undergraduate Student Advising

Engineering Advising Syllabus

Welcome to the College of Engineering. We are glad you are here!

This section provides information on advising and registration procedures for all current (sophomore or higher undergraduate) and transfer Engineering students. The College of Engineering REQUIRES advising every semester prior to enrolling in courses. First-year (i.e., all new students coming straight from high school) receive advising and registration help via the OneStop Student Services office.

Current Students

Required Advising and Enrollment Information
Procedures
  • Last names beginning with A-L schedule the meeting with their faculty advisor in the fall, and last names beginning with M-Z schedule the meeting with their faculty advisor in the spring. (You can meet with either during off-semesters if you want; they are there to help.)
Note: Find your faculty advisor's name and email address by going to your degree audit and clicking the e-mail icon at the top right. Also, your assigned advisors will be located in your Success Team in Navigate.
  • Schedule an advising meeting with your faculty advisor (depending on the semester) or the Engineering Student Academic Success Advisor. You will not be allowed to enroll until this appointment has been completed.
Note: Depending on your department, this can be scheduled through Navigate or by email.
  • Prior to your appointment, outline a tentative class schedule.  This can be done by using the pre-advising worksheet provided by your department or by reviewing your department’s Degree Map. For accuracy, please verify your catalog term first.
Tip: Don't know where to find your catalog term? Check your Degree Works audit or your Academic Profile under the myClasses tab in your myWSU portal.
  • Arrive early. Students who are more than five minutes late will need to reschedule.
