The cybersecurity program within the School of Computing, College of Engineering at WSU offers a bachelor's degree or minor in cybersecurity, as well as a graduate certificate in information assurance and cybersecurity.
From single computers to large networks, the global need for cybersecurity expertise has never been greater. The Cybersecurity undergraduate program focuses on applying computer technology skills and understanding in the real world. Through experiential and applied learning, students prepare for careers in computer analytics, cybersecurity, data analysis, game development and social media applications.
The Cybersecurity curriculum consists of a set of required core courses plus a selection of stackable certificates that provide a flexible plan of study for students. The certificates were developed through discussions with industry leaders, ensuring that students learn the subjects they most need to be successful in today’s job market.
The graduate certificate in information assurance and cybersecurity is designed for IT professionals and graduate students, ensuring a strong understanding of the fundamentals of information assurance and cybersecurity. Students will acquire in-depth knowledge in areas such as security and privacy in network and internet systems, cyber-physical systems and critical infrastructure, Internet-of-Things, software systems and cloud computing.
The 12-credit-hour certificate comprises courses in the areas of data communication networks, network security and includes electives based on your academic interests.
