Tom Frye
Tom Frye graduated from WSU earning a Theatre B.A. in 1971 & WSU Theatre M.A. in 1983.
He was a theatre instructor for 8 years with WSU. Director of Theatre for Southeast High School, Andover High School, Kapaun Mt. Carmel
High School, The Independent School, Wichita Center for the Arts and the Crown Uptown
Dinner Theatre. Also taught special education for 4 years for Starkey School and ESL
at Wichia East High School. Locally directed productions at Crown Uptown Dinner Theatre, Mosley Street Melodama's,
Wichita Community Theatre, The Forum Theatre, Wichita Center for the Arts, Roxy's
Downtown, Wichita State Univesity, Wichita East High School, Collegiate School and
The Wichita Grand Opera. Outside of Kansas, Director at the Iron Springs Chateau, Manitou Springs, CO and La
Commedia Dinner Theatre in Springboro, Ohio and directed OUR TOWN in a 300 year old
cemetery, for the 150th Anniversary Celebration of Norwood, Massachusetts. Performer
with the US North American National Tour of 42nd. St. the Musical through 35 states.
Published Playwright with Concord Theatricals. Plays performed throughout the United
States and locally with Mosley Street Melodrama and Wichita Children's Theatre. Formed
the night club act The Small Frye Co. which toured Kansas for many years. Created
the Mary Jane Teall Awards. Performed the one man show of TRU under the direction of Oscar Nominated Jay Presson Allen and produced by her three
time Tony Award Winning husband Lewis Allen. Has lived in Kansas, New York, Texas,
Lousiana, Ohio, California, Alabama, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Massachusetts, South Dakota,
Colorado, Florida, Nevada. Written his first and LAST book, "STAGES", The Life and
Times of a Kansas Actor. Worked with Kelcie Grammer, Shirley Knight, Robert Clohessy,
Harry Carey Jr. Dick Wilson, Sam Ramey, Barry Livingston, Stanley Livingston, Gale
Storm, Karla Burns, Casey Nicholaw, Peter Strummer, Kevin Haney, Bill Bickley, Melanie
Wilson, Estelle Harris, Otts Munderloh, Bob Whitehead, Kirstie Alley.
