Financial Need

Several scholarships at Wichita State require students to demonstrate need. If your financial circumstances change significantly after submitting your online application, please contact the Office of Financial Aid to discuss any financial concerns you may have.

  • Financial need is officially determined by the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • A current FAFSA on file is highly recommended prior to submitting scholarship/fellowship applications. In some extenuating circumstances, financial need can be established through a financial need statement and supporting documentation.
  • If you are a US Citizen or permanent resident, you must complete the FAFSA for the 2022-2023 academic year at fafsa.gov.
  • If you are ineligible to apply for Federal Student Aid via the FAFSA (such as an undocumented student, DACA student, or international student), provide a statement and attach supporting documentation in the “Financial Need” section of the Scholarship Universe application.
  • If you have extenuating circumstances impacting your ability to pay for college that are not reflected on your FAFSA, provide a statement and attach supporting documentation in the “Financial Need” section of the Scholarship Universe application.
