Options for Meeting Your Summer Educational Costs

You may have received a notification from the Office of Financial Aid that states you have no remaining federal aid funds for the summer term.

This could be for a handful of reasons:

  • You may have used your annual amount of student loans already this academic year.
    • Undergraduate Loan Limits: $5,500-$12,500
      • Freshmen (0-29 Hours): $5,500 Dependent; $9,500 Independent
      • Sophomore (30-59 Hours): $6,500 Dependent; $10,500 Independent
      • Juniors/Seniors (60+ Hours): $7,500 Dependent; $12,500 Independent
    • Graduate Loan Limits: $20,500
  • You may have used your lifetime (aggregate) amount of student loans.
  • You may not be enrolled in enough hours for student loans to disburse (loans require half-time enrollment: undergraduate students need 6 credit hours of summer enrollment; graduate students need 3 hours of summer enrollment).
  • You may not be eligible for additional Pell grant funding due to your EFC/SAI and your summer enrollment level or enrollment intensity. Additional year-round Pell grant funding for 2023-24 requires at least half-time enrollment.
  • You may not be eligible for additional Pell grant funding due to reaching your Pell Lifetime Eligibility Usage Limit.
  • To receive aid, you must be enrolled in a degree-bound program at Wichita State. Only course work required for your degree will count as part of financial aid enrollment each semester.
