The responsibility of Internal Audit is to serve the university in a manner that is
consistent with the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) promulgated
by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Internal Audit provides independent, objective internal audit and consulting services
that helps Wichita State University achieve its objectives and fulfill its vision.
As required by the Kansas Board of Regents' Internal Audit Policy, the Director of
Internal Audit has a direct reporting line to the University President on all audit
matters.
WSU was the first of only two institutions among the six state universities in Kansas
to undergo a Quality Assurance Review. This was a peer review of the university's
internal audit function similar to an accreditation visit for an academic program
or college.
"My goal as Director of Internal Audit is to help foster a risk-intelligent community
that is alert to and proactively manages risk at WSU."
Chris Cavanaugh, Director of Internal Audit
