Wichita State University invites you to participate in our annual scholarship competitions. A variety of scholarships are awarded to competition participants, including some of the largest scholarships in Kansas! See below for information and participation requirements for each competition.

Scholarship Competitions

Distinguished Scholarship Invitational

Open to all majors, the Distinguished Scholarship Invitational (DSI) awards the Richard D. Smith, Harry Gore Memorial, Mike & Mary James, Mark & Stacy Parkinson, Passage 2 Success and DSI Semifinalist scholarships.

Allen, Gibbs and Houlik L.C. Scholarship Competition

Open to business majors, the Allen, Gibbs and Houlik L.C. Scholarship Competition (AGH) awards the Clay Barton, Ross Tidemann, Harry Najim and Fran Jabara scholarships.

Wallace Invitational for Scholarships in Engineering (WISE)

The Wallace Invitational for Scholarships in Engineering (WISE) awards 10 Wallace scholarships.

McGregor Scholarship

The Cohen Honors College awards the Lenora McGregor academic scholarship to an honors student of any major.

The College of Fine Arts awards scholarships to art, music and performance majors.

All majors - Distinguished Scholarship Invitational. DSI also awards specific scholarships for:
- Fine Arts majors
- Liberal Arts and Sciences majors
- First-Generation students

Additional scholarship opportunities

Merit scholarships

Just get admitted, and if you're eligible, we'll send your scholarship offer within two weeks. No exhausting forms, no agonizing wait, just the prestige of being named a Shocker scholarship recipient.

Merit scholarship opportunities are available for incoming freshmen, transfers, Honors College students, and National Merit finalists.

Shocker Promise

This four-year award covers remaining costs associated with tuition and fees after applying all other gift aid for eligible students with demonstrated financial need. For more information, visit wichita.edu/shockerpromise.

In-state or reduced tuition

Students from Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas and Wisconsin may qualify for in-state or reduced tuition.
