WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State Shocker Bowling coaching staff have chosen eight men and eight women to be placed directly on the selected team for the 2015-2016 season.

Fresh off another National Championship, the Shocker men return six men from the 2014-2015 team. The Shocker men had a roller coaster season but finished on top. The group features a mix of upper and lower class men with six returners and two new players.

The returning men who received direct placement are:
• A.J. Chapman – senior – Manchester, Iowa
• Tyler Cruz – senior – Tacoma, Wash.
• Mitch Hupé – junior – Winnipeg, Man., Canada
• Thomas Peters – sophomore – Belleville, Ill.
• Zach Rhoades – senior – Lafayette, Ind.
• Justin Zwaschka – junior – Saint Joseph, Mo.

The two new players to be directly placed are:
• Brandon Biondo – Harry D. Jacobs High School – Carpentersville, Ill.
• Wesley Low Jr. – Highland High School – Palmdale, Calif.

The coaching staff placed seven members from last season onto the 2015-2016 selected team, among these players is current and two-time Bowler of the Year Daria Kovalova. These women had a wonderful season, winning eight tournaments and being the number one ranked team in the country.

The seven returning team members who have been selected are:
• Sydney Brummett – sophomore – Fort Wayne, Ind.
• Hollyann Johansen – sophomore – Wichita, Kan.
• Sierra Kanemoto – sophomore – Dayton, Ohio
• Daria Kovalova – senior – Moscow, Russia
• Kristie López – junior – Ponce, Puerto Rico
• Laura Plazas – junior – Bogotá, Colombia
• Caitlin Tam – junior – Markham, Ont., Canada

The incoming freshman player granted direct placement is:
• Estefania Cobo – Carvin High School – Truijilo Alto, Puerto Rico

“There is always extra excitement beginning the year as the defending national champions on the men’s side. There is obviously a challenge to fill the holes lost by graduating players, and there are big holes on both the men’s and women’s side. We are looking forward to this opportunity of integrating the new players into the great tradition of Shocker Bowling,” assistant coach Mark Lewis said.

Additional men and women may be added to the selected team upon completion of the tryout process in September. In addition to the selected team, all of the 2015-2016 developmental team members for the Shockers will be selected after the annual three week tryout period, scheduled for late August through early September 2015.
