Engineering Design and Modification
In a Wichita hangar with a long history for excellence in aircraft innovation and
design, the highly skilled staff at NIAR Engineering Design and Modification (EDM)
relies on hundreds of years of combined experience in the design, production and testing
of aircraft and components to develop and execute some of the most unique aviation
projects in the Air Capital. Paired with the fresh and open minds of engineering and
technical students at Wichita State University and WSU Tech, the EDM team implements
innovative and efficient methods for the rapid development of engineering and testing
plans for new aircraft, modifications/overhaul and electrical components.
EDM provides engineering, modification/repair/overhaul, environmental test and flight
test/certification services. This includes A321 and 777-300ERCF passenger to freighter
conversion programs with Erickson Precision Ventures and Kansas Modification Center.
The NIAR EDM team includes more than 500 program managers, engineers, contractors,
technicians and paid applied learning students.
