Open Positions

Thank you for considering to apply for one of our open positions within the 63rd Session of the Student Government Association. Below are open positions and their applications. The link to the open positions will take you to ShockerSync where you will need to sign in to view, apply, and submit your applications. Please note that some positions will require you to submit a resume for review. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the positions are filled. If selected, interviews for positions will be coordinated by the SGA Office Manager and you will receive more information about interviews following your submission via email. "The Student Senate" or Legislative Branch

The Legislative Branch or the Senate, must constantly be reaching out to students and gathering information about their concerns. In this way, Senators are responsible for acting in the best interest of students, balancing and vetting executive decisions, and advocating for the student voice. Senators must attend all of the regular meetings as well as the signature programs that are an important part of the Senate’s annual schedule. During the weekly meetings Senators are expected to be actively engaged and participate in the discussions taking place. Furthermore, Senators should be eager to work with a committee and assist their fellow Senators whenever possible.

The Senate; collectively; is responsible for

  • Taking action, which is in harmony and pursuant to the duties of the Association;
  • Approving all allocations of Association monies;
  • Managing the allocation of over $10 million dollars in Student Fees
  • Approving all recognized student organizations,
  • Providing funding to student groups and individuals,
  • Awarding several thousands of dollars in scholarships annually
  • Establishing, jointly with the University administration, rules to govern the conduct of members of the Association in their actions as students of the University;

Elections Commission

All positions are currently filled

The Election Commission, or the Commission, shall serve as a clearinghouse and resource of information and review of procedures with respect to the administration of the elections.   

The Commission; collectively; is responsible for administering any election according to the procedure outlined in S003 in a manner that is fair and equitable to all candidates and tickets competing in the election; maintaining strict neutrality with regard to the outcome of any election; making every effort to advertise broadly the date and time of any election; to educate the members of the Association regarding the candidates, the contents of any Constitutional Amendments or referenda, and the regulations and procedures governing elections; and to encourage and facilitate widespread and active participation in any election; and enforcing all regulations outlined in S003 according to the procedures outlined in that Statute.

"Executive Cabinet" or Executive Branch

All positions are currently filled

The Executive Branch or the Cabinet shall serve to advise and assist the President in the execution of the will of the Senate and the members of the Association and to communicate the activities of the Executive Branch to the Senate.The Cabinet shall be composed of all the members of the Executive Branch who are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate or elected by the members of the Association. 

"The Supreme Court" or Judicial Branch

The Supreme Court or The Court,  shall have jurisdiction in cases arising from the Constitution, Statutes, and Bylaws of the Association. The Court shall hear appeals from Traffic Court, Parking Appeals, and Library Court of Appeals and shall render decisions in these cases. The Court shall have the authority to render advisory opinions at the written request of any member of the Association. An advisory opinion will be provided by the Court which then will be sent to the Senate. Any further jurisdictional areas are only granted by the Senate and approved by the President of the Association.
