After two years of success, the Widener Global Leaders Program led by the W. Frank Barton School of Business will continue for the next five years. The continuation of the program is made possible by a $300,000 gift from Peri Widener, the visionary behind the program. WGLP is an interdisciplinary program designed to create a transformational experience and foster an inclusive community for students majoring in business, communications and fine arts. The integration of the three disciplines reflects the skillset of Peri Widener, who utilized her background to thrive in the international business world.

May 21, 2023 — Wichita State graduate student Billy Berue will enlist in the President’s Own United States Marine Band beginning in June. The prestigious band was established in 1798 and is widely regarded as one of the best in the world.

The W. Frank Barton School of at Wichita State University has announced the formation of its new Marketing Advisory Board. In conjunction, fifteen marketing leaders from across the country have been selected to serve on the board.

May 19, 2023 — Marie Bukowski has been named the next dean of Wichita State University’s College of Fine Arts, effective July 9, 2023.

May 18, 2023 - Dean Rodney Miller will retire in June following 19 years leading the College of Fine Arts at Wichita State University. During his tenure, the School of Digital Arts was created and enrollment in the college has grown to over 1,000 students.

May 17, 2023 — The planned Wichita Biomedical Campus — a joint initiative by Wichita State University, WSU Tech and University of Kansas — is one step closer to its funding goal thanks to a $15 million award from the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), made available through the Strengthening People and Revitalizing Kansas (SPARK) Executive Committee and State Finance Council.

May 17, 2023 - Wichita State shortstop Sydney McKinney's leadership isn’t limited to the field. Teammates love her enthusiasm and positive outlook, as well as her devotion to coffee, pets and painting.

May 17, 2023 - The existence of life on other planets, especially Mars, is a question pondered in literature, movies and imaginations. Wichita State University’s Dr. Mark Schneegurt is working on that issue with the assistance of a $377,000 grant from NASA to examine the toughness of microbes isolated from spacecraft assembly facilities.

May 16, 2023 — Wichita State students wanting to earn a degree in American Sign Language will be able to make progress toward that goal starting fall 2023, when WSU launches a Bachelor of Arts in American Sign Language.

May 18, 2023 — Wichita State University was awarded $50,000 in prize money to catalyze relationships and develop Growth Accelerator Partnerships.
