Women in Public Service

Women in Public Service (WPS) is an association of public service professionals created to inspire past, current and future generations by addressing topics relevant to women in public service, while instilling knowledge through education, networking and professional development that strengthens the leadership in our local government and communities.

 WPS hosts bi-monthly events throughout the year for networking and learning together at central locations in Wichita. Events are open to both members and non-members, while membership perks are exclusive to members.

  • Becky Tuttle, Council Member
    Wichita City Council Member Becky Tuttle has more than twenty-years of population health experience engaging community partners through grassroots efforts to improve the health of the community, specifically in vulnerable populations.
    As the YMCA’s Director of Community Development (through January 2019), Tuttle leads programs throughout the region that address teen employment, juvenile crime and afterschool safety, childhood drowning, personal, family and community nutrition, workplace wellness, and disease management. During our time together, Becky will share her tips, Getting Others to YES. She has the unique ability to persuade/influence the people/communities to move projects and ideas forward. This is a skill and an opportunity that many of us can benefit from no matter our position of power.

  • Book Discussion | Year of Yes | Paula Downs, Talent & Professional Development Manager
    Please join Paula Downs, Talent and Professional Development Manager, with the Public Policy and Management Center as she leads us through a book discussion over best selling author and TV writer, Shonda Rhimes, "YEAR of YES."  This book has been our inspiration for the 2019 year.  It challenges us to look at things we are saying, "No" to and the incredible things that can happen when we say, "YES!"

  • When You Say Yes | Dr. Sheree Utash, President of WSU Tech and VP of Workforce Development for WSU 
    Join us as Dr. Sheree Utash shares her story and the transformation she pushed for at WSU Tech - formerly known as Wichita Area Technical College (WATC). Dr. Utash has served as president of WATC since 2015 and has overseen the transition of the college to the WSU Campus of Applied Sciences and Technology (WSU Tech).

Non-member Options

Luncheons, evening reception and annual conference will still be open to nonmembers at a rate of $20 per lunch ($10 for students) and $30 per evening reception.  A reduced cost of $15 will be available for first-time attendees. Payment options will be available prior to each event.

Cancellation Policy

No refunds will be issued for cancellation of membership. However, memberships can be transferred to other colleagues.
