ICTNext is a professional network created exclusively for young public service professionals
in the Wichita area. Designed as a space for connection, conversation, and growth,
ICTNext brings together emerging leaders who are committed to serving their communities
through government, nonprofit, education, and related public-serving roles.
ICTNext hosts monthly gatherings throughout the year that focus on networking, professional
development, and candid conversations about navigating public service careers. Events
are held at central locations in Wichita and are open to young professionals working
in or supporting public service roles.
Whether you are new to the field or building momentum in your early career, ICTNext
offers a welcoming environment to build meaningful relationships, learn from experienced
leaders, and grow alongside peers who understand the unique challenges and rewards
of public service.
Exploring My Role: Am I a young public service professional?
A young professional in public service is someone whose work supports the well-being
of individuals, communities, or the public as a whole. Public service professionals
can be found across many sectors, including government, nonprofit organizations, education,
healthcare and public health, social services, community engagement, civic technology,
advocacy, and other mission-driven fields. Their work may happen directly through
community-facing services or indirectly through roles that help organizations and
systems better serve people.
At ICTNext, a “young professional” is less about age and more about being in the early
or evolving stages of your public service journey. Whether you are new to the workforce,
transitioning into public service, exploring leadership opportunities, or continuing
to grow in your career, you are welcome here.
If your work contributes to the public good — directly or indirectly — you belong
in this community.
ICTNext brings together professionals across disciplines who are passionate about
connecting with others, developing as leaders, and making a meaningful impact in the
communities they serve.
2026 Event Recaps
January Event: PowerPoint Party at Child Start
ICTNext kicked off the year with a PowerPoint Party hosted at Child Start. Members
each brought a short presentation about what they do in their public service roles,
creating an engaging and creative way to learn about one another’s work. The evening
sparked new connections, deeper understanding across sectors, and plenty of laughs
along the way.
February Event: Mentorship Conversation with The Thread
In February, ICTNext gathered at the Public Policy & Management Center for a candid
mentorship conversation led by the team from The Thread: A Women’s Leadership Collective.
The discussion explored how mentorship shapes professional growth — both through guidance
received and leadership given. Members left with practical insight on how to seek
meaningful mentorship and how to begin serving as mentors themselves.
March/April Event: Networking & Games at the Arcade
ICTNext headed to the Arcade for an evening of networking and connection in a relaxed,
high-energy setting. Attendees were able to come and chat, learn more about ICTNext
and play video games in The Arcade. The evening was a great laid back opportunity
to strengthen relationships, welcome new faces, and continue building momentum for
Wichita’s next generation of civic leaders.
In May, ICTNext partnered with ICTSOS to support their work in prevention, education,
and advocacy for individuals impacted by human trafficking and exploitation. Attendees
got a tour of the ICT S.O.S. office and helped move shelving and organize supplies
to help provide smoother access for items for staff and clients.
