Join LGN!

The PPMC's Local Government Network (LGN) is a professional development series that offers monthly learning and networking events for city and county government organizations in the region.

Will Your City/County Join the Local Government Network (LGN) for 2026?

When your city/county joins LGN, all employees and elected officials can participate in the LGN programs offered in 2026, except the monthly Managers Roundtable. In 2025, 26 cities and 4 counties in central Kansas benefited from membership. See the list below to check if your organization is a member.

Membership in 2026 Includes the Following:

  • Survey of Fees - Compare your fees for Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater services to those in other LGN communities. Data collected every other year.
  • NEW Culture Eats Strategy for Breakfast - Four (one-hour) live, online sessions exploring innovations in organizational culture and management using articles from the ICMA Career Compass to spark conversation. We’ll explore topics like how to really do more with less, effective employee engagement, etc. Similar “bookclub” format as NextGen EcoDevo in 2024-25.
  • Public Works - Discussion of hot topic with networking lunch and potential facility tour in cooperation with the Kansas Chapter of APWA (American Public Works Association)
  • Webinars - Two (one hour) on topics of interest to city or county management held live and later available streaming on demand
  • Monthly Managers Roundtable - (8 online, 4 in-person lunches) – Only for city/county managers & administrators

Membership Bonus:

LGN members will receive discounted rates on:

  1. Attendance at the City/County Management Summit on June 10, 2026 at WSU
  2. Orientation & Development (including Ethics) for their Elected Officials or boards (Planning Commission, Library Board, Park Board, etc.)

We happily provide board development in person at your regularly scheduled meetings (subject to scheduling/availability) and customize the curriculum to meet local and unique needs. Email Kathy to discuss options.
