The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University has announced that Dr. Seth Cockrell will serve as the next Chair of the Marketing Department. Cockrell, who has been working at the Barton School for more than five years as a faculty member, will take over from Duane Nagel, recently appointed as the Barton School’s Senior Associate Dean.

Feb. 8, 2024 — Wichita State University is joining more than 200 of the nation’s leading artificial intelligence (AI) stakeholders to participate in a Department of Commerce initiative to support the development and deployment of trustworthy and safe AI.

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University has finalized the inaugural group for the Erin and Kyle Cummings $500,000 Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF). The class consists of 30 students from across the world representing 10 majors.

Feb. 6, 2024 - A grant from the National Endowment for the Arts will help the Ulrich Museum of Art celebrate the Martin H. Bush Outdoor Sculpture Collection as part of the Museum’s 50th Anniversary special programming.

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Duane Nagel as its Senior Associate Dean. In this role, Nagel will oversee the successful implementation of the school’s strategic plan and related key initiatives, manage undergraduate and graduate programs, lead efforts to maximize on our enrollments, advance faculty and research affairs, among other key areas. His collaborative efforts with Dr. Larisa Genin, Dean of the Barton School, and other key leaders will focus on identifying areas for enhancement and innovation across these domains.

Feb. 1, 2024 — Wichita State University has selected the 2024 recipients of the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarships. Each student will receive a $64,000 scholarship to attend Wichita State University starting in August 2024.

Feb. 1, 2024 — The College of Engineering at Wichita State University is hosting an Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED) event, commonly known as Girl Day, for high school girls from Wichita and the surrounding area.

Jan. 22, 2024 — The FirePoint Innovations Center at Wichita State University announced it has been selected to deliver Defense Innovation OnRamp Hub programming for the National Security Innovation Network through the newly established Great Plains Mission Acceleration Center, an innovation and collaboration hub designed to connect small businesses, academia and the Department of Defense to support defense-focused technology development.

Jan. 22, 2024 — Wichita State University has selected the top 13 finalists in the 2024 Distinguished Scholarship Invitational (DSI).
