April 29,  2026  — Several scholarship awards helped Kaylan Richardson focus on her education and applied learning on her way to a degree. Next for Kaylan: Earning a graduate degree in counseling.  

April 29,  2026  —  Manuel Salamanca shaped his Wichita State experience through hands-on aerospace engineering work, including NASA Jumpstart, student aircraft manufacturing and competitive design-build projects. A first-generation and military-affiliated student, he will serve on active duty with the U.S. Air Force after graduation before pursuing a master’s degree in aerospace engineering.  

April 29, 2026 — Wichitan Ben Sauceda chose Wichita State in part for the grants that helped him graduate with minimal student debt. Through applied learning at the Kansas Aviation Museum, he plans to continue working in the nonprofit sector after graduation, encouraging others to embrace challenges and “try hard things.”

The Barton School of Business at Wichita State University has appointed Dr. Smita Srivastava as associate dean for faculty and research, reinforcing its commitment to advancing faculty excellence across teaching, research and external engagement.

The Wichita State University Center for Entrepreneurship invites students, faculty, business leaders, and community members to attend the 2026 Shocker New Venture Competition (SNVC)—a high-energy showcase of emerging startups and student innovation.

Taking place on Friday, May 1 in Woolsey Hall, this annual competition highlights the most promising new ventures from students across Kansas as they compete for funding to bring their ideas to life.

Erin Cummings is not your typical fashion founder. That is exactly the point and it’s exactly why her brand is gaining attention. A 2009 alumna of the Barton School of Business, Cummings is a serial entrepreneur, investor and member of the Dean’s Advisory Board. Her latest venture, Armine + Ambrose, is a semi-fine jewelry brand rooted in intention, identity and storytelling. The brand recently reached a major milestone with a showcase during New York Fashion Week. 

The Barton School of Business at Wichita State University has launched its Hospitality Advisory Board, bringing together accomplished leaders from across the industry to help shape and elevate its undergraduate hospitality program and build a strong talent pipeline.

April 14, 2026 - Shocker Studios Casting wants to grow into Kansas’ source for matching talent with projects of all types. The office is open to WSU students and actors from the community and can match projects that call for actors, voice-overs, motion capture, animation and gaming.

April 10, 2026 — Wichita State has named Dr. Jamarco Clark as its next vice president for Student Affairs, effective July 1.

April 8, 2026 — A Wichita State PA student turned compassion into action by donating stem cells to a leukemia patient—showing what it truly means to give care beyond the classroom.
