Wichita State University - Theatre Program Guest Artist: BRIAN GUNTER


Photo of Brian Gunter.The WSU Theatre Program was honored to have alumnus and professional actor, Brian Gunter in residence and perform the lead role of Sir Alexander Wengrave in "The Roaring Girl" during the Spring 2016 semester. The School of Performing Arts students were also thrilled to benefit from several Master Classes and workshops led by Gunter.

Gunter received his BA in Theatre from WSU in 1985 and went on to earn his MA-Theatre from Northwestern University in 1988. After finishing his stay in Wichita he continued on to his performance in "Grapes of Wrath" at Barksdale Theatre in Richmond, Virginia.

Also a singer and multi-instrumentalist, Gunter's previous work includes a National Tour of "Woody" portraying singer/songwriter Woody Guthrie; "Hank Williams: Lost Highway" (Stage Repertory, Houston, TX); "Careless Love" (Oberon Theater, ART, Cambridge, MA); Austria, Italy, and the Czech Republic tour of "This Land is Your Land"; and "The Caine Mutiny" (San Jose Rep, San Jose, CA). Gunter is a winner of the Bay Area Critics Circle Award – Leading Actor in a Musical, for his work at Berkely Repetory.
