Photo of professional scenery and lighting designer Michael E. Downs. The WSU Theatre Program was honored to host alum and professional scenery and lighting designer Michael Downs as guest Designer for the 2011 production of "Assassins".

Downs has designed sets for the Boston Conservatory of Music, Salt Lake City Opera, Boston University of Theatre, New York City Ballet, Boston Lyric Opera, “Grease” South American Tour, “Crazy for You” European Tour, Lake George Opera Festival and the Berkshire Theatre Festival, among other projects. He has also received an Emmy nomination for his work.

In 2008 Downs was a guest of honor (along with alum Shirley Knight) during WSU's Performing Arts Premier Day. He conducted workshops and Q & A sessions with students and community members.
