Graduate Exception for Enrollment Status
Financial Aid eligibility for Graduate students is based on a student’s enrollment in Graduate level courses. Students must be enrolled at least half-time (5 credit hours) to be eligible for federal direct unsubsidized loans.
Exceptions may be made for students that are considered to be completing half-time or full-time equivalent coursework by their college, as confirmed by their college/academic advisor.
Additional Information:
- This exception must be requested each semester that enrollment falls below the minimum for half-time or full-time.
- Approval of your enrollment status does not necessarily guarantee and increase to your Federal Direct Loan eligibility.
- Your Federal Direct Loan eligibility plus any other gift aid cannot exceed the Cost of Attendance.
- Changes in enrollment after Federal Direct Loans are disbursed may require an adjustment to your current or future term eligibility.
To be considered:
- Complete this form with your academic advisor.
- Submit fully completed form:
- Federal Direct Loan Recipients – Submit to Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships
- Non-Federal Direct Loan Recipients – Submit to Registrar’s Office
