Overview

Dr. Lehecka is a Kansas Licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy with a PhD in Orthopedic and Sports Science. He has been a physical therapist for over 15 years, specializing in orthopedic and sports science with a particular focus on gluteal muscle activation and orthopedic rehabilitation. 

Dr. Lehecka earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Kinesiology from Kansas State University in 2006, his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Wichita State University in 2009, and his PhD in Orthopedic and Sports Science from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in 2018. His dissertation, "The Reliability and Validity of Gluteal Endurance Measures (GEMs)," focused on developing reliable and valid measures for assessing gluteal muscle endurance.

Areas of Research Interest

His recent work has explored topics such as the impact of verbal and tactile cues on gluteal force production, the influence of hip and trunk variables on low back pain, and the effects of various gluteal exercises on hip function and other outcomes. His research has been presented at national and international conferences.

Dr. Lehecka primarily teaches musculoskeletal courses in the program with an emphasis on hip and spine content, gluteal muscle activation and orthopedic rehabilitation. .
