Follow these three easy steps to secure your home away from home:

1. Complete your housing application at mywsu.wichita.edu

Log in to your myWSU portal and in the Student Tools box in the center of your screen, select Campus Housing

The housing application is made up of multiple pages, which include the Contract Terms and Conditions, a personal profile, your LLC preferences, your building preference (not room preference), your FERPA and emergency contact info, and your meningitis immunization documentation.

2. Pay the $75 non-refundable application fee and the $200 prepayment to secure a space.

These payments are made separately on different pages of the application, but both payments must be on file to consider your application complete. NOTE: The $200 is a prepayment, not a deposit. This means that it is applied to your first housing bill, and you do not get this money back at the end of academic year.

3. Notification will be sent to your WSU email when (specific day/time) you can log back in to the housing application portal and select your room and meal plan.

Once you have completed all open pages in the application, you are done until further notice. The application will not overtly say 'COMPLETE'  but you are done until we contact you to go through Room Selection in the Spring.

2021-2022 Application Timeline  

October 1st, 2020: Housing Application/Contract Release Date

  • All sections of application open: Request for Housing Accommodation, FERPA proxy information for Housing specifically, Contract Terms & Conditions, $75.00 Application Fee, Living Learning Community (LLC) Application, Personal Profile & Roommate Search, $200.00 Prepayment, Submission of Meningitis Immunization Documentation

December 1st, 2020: Early-Bird Deadline #1 (applies to current/returning students and new students)

  • Students with completed contracts (including $200.00 prepayment) by this date will be included in the first round of the room selection process.
    • Room selection will be based upon a random-generated lottery assignment rather than by date/time stamp payment of fees were received.
  • Students in this group have a higher probability of selecting the room type they most desire during the room selection process.

February 1st, 2021: Early-Bird Deadline #2 (current/returning students only)

  • Students with completed contracts (including $200.00 prepayment) between December 2nd and this date will be included in the second round of the room selection process.
    • Room selection will be based upon a random-generated lottery assignment rather than by date/time stamp payment of fees were received.

February 1st, 2021: LLC Application Deadline (new students only)

  • Students who have completed the LLC Application portion of the housing application by this date will be in the priority group for review and possibly placement into one of those communities.
  • HRL staff as well as campus partners for each community will review applications received by this date. Placement offers will be communicated out to students, responses back required, and room selection profiles will be set.

March 1st, 2021: Early-Bird Deadline #2 (new students only)

  • Students with completed contracts (including $200.00 prepayment) between December 2nd and this date will be included in the second round of the room selection process.
    • Room selection will be based upon a random-generated lottery assignment rather than by date/time stamp payment of fees were received.

March 22nd, 2021: Current/Returning Student Room Selection Begins (current/returning students only)

  • Students in the first lottery group (paid by EB deadline of December 1st) will select rooms beginning the week of March 22nd.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.
  • Students in the second lottery group (paid by EB deadline of February 1st) will select rooms beginning the week of March 29th.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.

March 22nd, 2021: LLC Student Room Selection Begins (new students only)

  • Students accepted to participate in a LLC community and in the first lottery group (paid by EB deadline of December 1st) will select rooms beginning the week of March 22nd.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.
  • Students accepted to participate in a LLC community and in the second lottery group (paid by EB deadline of March 1st) will select rooms beginning the week of March 29th.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.

April 5th, 2021: Open Room Selection Begins (current/returning students only)

  • Students with completed contracts (including $200.00 prepayment) after February 2nd will be in the third lottery group and will select rooms beginning the week of April 5th.
    • Groups will select rooms on a weekly basis through the week of April 26th.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.
  • After room selection lottery timeframe has passed for the third group, any student who completed their contract (including $200.00 prepayment) on April 15th or after will be given a profile to enter the room selection process at the time that their application is processed.

April 5th, 2021: Waitlisted LLC Student Room Selection Begins (new students only)

  • Students initially waitlisted to participate in a LLC community and not in the first or second lottery groups (paid after EB deadline of March 1st) will select rooms beginning the week of April 5th.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.
  • Students initially accepted into these communities and have not yet reserved a room will have those community profiles removed from their application and will be reassigned into the general room selection process lottery group.

April 9th, 2021: LLC Room Selection Ends (new students only)

  • Any unreserved rooms within LLC communities will be redistributed and included as general housing spaces within the upcoming room selection process.
  • Remaining students accepted into these communities and have not yet reserved a room will have those community profiles removed from their application and will be reassigned into the general room selection process lottery group.

April 12th, 2021: General Room Selection Begins (new students only)

  • Students in the first lottery group (paid by EB deadline of December 1st) will select rooms beginning the week of April 12th.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.
  • Students in the second lottery group (paid by EB deadline of March 1st) will select rooms beginning the week of April 19th.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.

April 26th, 2021: Open Room Selection Begins (new students)

  • Students with completed contracts (including $200.00 prepayment) between March 2nd and April 15th will be in the third lottery group and will select rooms beginning the week of April 26th.
    • Room selection will be based upon a random-generated lottery assignment rather than by date/time stamp payment of fees were received.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.
  • After room selection lottery timeframe has passed for the third group, any student who completed their contract (including $200.00 prepayment) on April 16th or after will be given a profile to enter the room selection process at the time that their application is processed.

June 1st, 2021: Cancellation Deadline Schedule Begins

  • $200.00 Prepayment will be refunded if cancellation request is received by June 1st, 2021.
    • Subsequent cancellation deadline schedule available within contract, on HRL website, as well as on the cancellation form.

June 21st, 2021: Check-In Appointment Process Available

  • Students may now select their check-in appointment date & time, register a bicycle being brought to campus, as well as obtain move-in information.

July 1st, 2021: Room Self-Selection Process Ends

  • Room self-selection process ends. Students completing a housing application after this date will be contacted directly by the HRL office to be administratively assigned in remaining space available.
  • Students who did not previously select a room during the self-selection process, and have not made contact with the HRL office regarding their delay in doing so, will have their applications administratively cancelled for inactivity; and forfeit their $200.00 prepayment in accordance with the cancellation fee schedule.

July 1st, 2021: Optional Rentals Request Deadline

  • Requests received by this date will be given first preference to reserve available optional rentals (safe, fridge, loft). HRL staff will contact students with requests to obtain preferred loft height and confirm other reservations.
    • Students who contact the HRL office after this date will automatically be added to a waitlist for optional rentals based upon date/time request was received. Pending inventory availability requests may be granted prior to move-in; otherwise provided when inventory becomes available for redistribution.

July 15th, 2021: Optional Rentals Confirmation Deadline

  • On July 1st, HRL staff will have reached out to students requesting optional rentals to confirm this request (including desired loft height). Requests will be due back by July 15th in order to provide ample time to Facilities staff in distribution of these rental options.
    • Students may be pulled off the waitlists at this time pending inventory availability.
