Follow these three easy steps to secure your home away from home:

1. Complete your housing application at mywsu.wichita.edu

Log in to your myWSU portal and in the Student Tools box in the center of your screen, select Campus Housing

The housing application is made up of multiple pages, which include a personal profile, your LLC preferences, your building preference (not room preference), your FERPA and emergency contact info, and your meningitis immunization documentation.

2. Pay the $75 non-refundable application fee and the $200 prepayment to secure a space.

These payments are made separately on different pages of the application, but both payments must be on file to consider your application complete. NOTE: The $200 is a prepayment, not a deposit. This means that it is applied to your first housing bill, and you do not get this money back at the end of academic year.

3. Notification will be sent to your WSU email when (specific day/time) you can log back in to the housing application portal and select your room and meal plan.

Once you have completed all open pages in the application, you are done until further notice. The application will not overtly say 'COMPLETE'  but you are done until we contact you to go through Room Selection in the Spring.

Application Timeline for the 2019-20 Academic Year

October 1, 2018: Housing Application/Contract Release Date

  • All sections of application open: Request for Housing Accommodation, FERPA proxy information for Housing specifically, Contract Terms & Conditions, $75.00 Application Fee, Living Learning Community (LLC) Application, Personal Profile & Roommate Search, $200.00 Prepayment, Submission of Meningitis Immunization Documentation

December 1, 2018: Early-Bird Deadline #1 (applies to current/returning students and new students)

  • Students with completed contracts (including $200.00 prepayment) by this date will be included in the first round of the room selection process.
    • Room selection will now be based upon a random-generated lottery assignment rather than by date/time stamp payment of fees were received.
  • Students in this group have a higher probability of selecting the room type they most desire during the room selection process.

February 1, 2019: Early-Bird Deadline #2 (current/returning students only)

  • Students with completed contracts (including $200.00 prepayment) between December 2nd and this date will be included in the second round of the room selection process.
    • Room selection will now be based upon a random-generated lottery assignment rather than by date/time stamp payment of fees were received.

March 1st: Early-Bird Deadline #2 (new students only)

  • Students with completed contracts (including $200.00 prepayment) between December 2nd and this date will be included in the second round of the room selection process.
    • Room selection will now be based upon a random-generated lottery assignment rather than by date/time stamp payment of fees were received.

March 1st: LLC Application Deadline (new students only)

  • Students who have completed the LLC Application portion of the housing application by this date will be in the priority group for review and possibly placement into one of those communities.
  • HRL staff as well as campus partners for each community will review applications received by this date. Placement offers will be communicated out to students, responses back required, and room selection profiles will be set.

 Room Selection 

  • Room selection time-slots will be based upon a random-generated lottery assignment rather than by date/time stamp payment of fees were received.
    • Time-slots will open every 15 minutes for groups of approximately 15-20 students at a time to make their selections.
  • The room selection process will be spread over several nights (2-3) from 5:00pm-7:00pm each of those nights to ensure room selection does not interfere with class schedules during the daytime.
    • HRL staff will be available by phone to assist students as needed to answer any questions (however, phone calls should be limited to no more than 10 minutes to keep phone lines available for staff to be able to assist all students who may need it).

 April 1st: Current/Returning Student Room Selection Begins (current/returning students only)

  • Students in the first lottery group (paid by EB deadline of December 1st) will select rooms beginning on April 1st.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.
  • Students in the second lottery group (paid by EB deadline of February 1st) will select rooms beginning on April 8th.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.

April 15th: LLC Student Room Selection Begins (new students only)

  • Students accepted to participate in a LLC community and in the first lottery group (paid by EB deadline of December 1st) will select rooms beginning on April 15th.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.
  • Students accepted to participate in a LLC community and in the second lottery group (paid by EB deadline of March 1st) will select rooms beginning on April 22nd.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.

April 25th: LLC Room Selection Ends (new students only)

  • Any unreserved rooms within LLC communities will be redistributed and included as general housing spaces within the upcoming room selection process.
  • Students initially accepted into these communities and have not yet reserved a room will have those community profiles removed from their application and will be reassigned into the general room selection process lottery group.

April 29th: General Room Selection Begins (new students only)

  • Students in the first lottery group (paid by EB deadline of December 1st) will select rooms beginning on April 29th.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.
  • Students in the second lottery group (paid by EB deadline of March 1st) will select rooms beginning on May 6th.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.

May 20th: Open Room Selection Begins (current/returning students and new students)

  • Students with completed contracts (including $200.00 prepayment) between February 2nd/March 2nd and May 1st will be in the third lottery group and will select rooms beginning on May 20th.
    • Meal Plan selection page and optional rental request page opens after room selection made.
  • After room selection lottery timeframe has passed for the third group, any student who completed their contract (including $200.00 prepayment) on May 2nd or after will be given a profile to enter the room selection process at any time (beginning the week following the third lottery group conclusion).
