University Emblems
The Presidential Medallion
The presidential medallion is worn by the president of Wichita State University on significant or official ceremonial occasions as the symbolic manifestation of his role and responsibility as the chief officer of the university. The official seal of Wichita State University anchors the ceremonial anaglyph and is encircled by two hyperbolic forms designed to complement the university mace. The presidential medallion is suspended from black silk trimmed with gold.
The University Mace
As the official symbol of the university’s authority and power, the mace is carried by selected college faculty in the academic procession. The mace was commissioned in 1978 by Paul J. Magelli, former dean of Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, as a memorial to his twin brother, Peter M. Magelli, and presented for the first time at the 1980 commencement.
Designed by artist Jonathan Graham Bonner of Providence, Rhode Island, the mace is executed primarily in stainless steel, gold and silver. The head of the mace is a gilt frame with 22 stainless steel spikes. The points are sterling silver. A silver ball engraved with the three seals of Wichita State University—Fairmount College, the Municipal University of Wichita and Wichita State University—is suspended in the frame by two springs. The shaft is a stainless steel spring, and the handle is a gilt ball set with nine hematites.
The University Seal
The seal of Wichita State University incorporates many images. A farmer and an Indian, representing Kansas’ rural background and Native American heritage, are looking up at seven stars above a lamp of learning.
The university’s name arcs above these images. Below them is a sunflower flanked by wheat, again signifying Kansas, and a laurel, a symbol of learning. Three significant dates of the university’s past also are included: 1895, Fairmount College founding; 1926, University of Wichita reorganization date; and 1964, the date the university entered the Kansas Regents’ system.
Commencement Notes
Honorary Degrees
An honorary degree is an exceptional honor bestowed upon a person without fulfllment of the usual requirements. Honorary degrees are conferred only upon persons of notable intellectual, scholarly, professional, creative achievement or service to humanity. A candidate for an honorary degree must be deeply grounded in a career of scholarship, research, creative activity, service to humanity or other profession consistent with the endeavors of Wichita State University.

Students listed in this commencement program are candidates for degrees in Spring and Summer 2026. Students’ names are listed in this program as they appear on the graduation list provided by the Office of the Registrar. Students’ names are read during the university commencement ceremony as they appear in the graduation information approved by the graduates.
Graduation with Honors
Degrees are conferred with distinction upon undergraduate students who have shown exceptional scholarship in both their cumulative and WSU grade point averages. Students with grade point averages of 3.90 out of a possible 4.00 receive the summa cum laude award; those with averages of 3.550 to 3.899 receive the magna cum laude; and those with averages of 3.250 to 3.549 receive the cum laude.
Candidates for degrees and for university honors for Spring and Summer 2025 have been tentatively determined on the basis of work completed through Fall 2025.
In addition to university honors, departmental honors are awarded to students who have met the appropriate requirements. Wichita State does not confer honors upon students completing degrees in the Graduate School.
Academic Dress
Today’s academic dress evolved from caps and gowns worn in medieval universities. The academic gown is the basic garment and by tradition is black for all degrees and ranks.
The square caps or mortarboards are part of the prescribed academic dress. Accompanying the gowns are hoods lined with silk in the ofcial color of the institution conferring the degree and bordered in the color representing the discipline of learning. The color of the tassel designates the student’s degree and may vary from what is found on the hood. Students receiving graduate degrees wear the color appropriate to the degree emphasis.

Commencement Guests
Pamela Clancy Ammar, Kansas Board of Regents
Pamela Clancy Ammar was appointed to the Kansas Board of Regents by Governor Laura Kelly in 2025.
Regent Ammar began her career as an attorney in 1989 and joined Morrison & Hecker (Stinson). In 1996, she joined Woodard, Blaylock, Hernandez, Roth & Day, LLC as a partner and specialized in medical malpractice defense and employment law. In 2003, the Wichita Business Journal featured her in its inaugural class of Women in Business. In 2008, she retired as a trial lawyer.
Throughout her career, Regent Ammar has been very involved in civic and community organizations. She served in many leadership roles with the Wichita Bar Association, including as president. She has served on numerous boards for local nonprofits including the American Cancer Society (Board President), Wichita Children’s Home (Board Chair), Kansas Humane Society (Board Chair), Lords Diner, Wichita Community Foundation, Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, and Heartspring. She was also Vice-Chair of Wesley Medical Center’s Board of Trustees for 15 years and chaired the Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Health Professions from 2006-2024, serving four Deans.
Regent Ammar serves as Chair-elect of Wichita State University Foundation and Alumni Engagement. She previously served on the WSU Alumni Association and SASO Board of Directors.
Regent Ammar graduated cum laude from Wichita State University in 1980 with a BS in Health Science. In 1989, she went on to complete her J.D. from the Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver.
Kathy Wolfe Moore, Kansas Board of Regents
Kathy Wolfe Moore was appointed to the Kansas Board of Regents by Governor Laura Kelly in 2024.
Regent Wolfe Moore served in the Kansas Legislature for a dozen years, retiring in 2022. Her service to the state of Kansas also includes a recently concluded term on the Board of Healing Arts.
She is the External Liaison for the University of Kansas Health System, where she has worked for 20 years. In addition, she serves as a member and is a past chair of the Wyandotte County Economic Development Council. She previously worked as chief of staff to Unified Government of Kansas City, KS and Wyandotte County Mayor Carol Marinovich.
Regent Wolfe Moore holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from the University of Kansas.

Sarah Kephart
Sarah Kephart is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and advocate dedicated to using art as a transformative tool for individuals with disabilities. As the first Director of the Envision Arts Program and Envision Arts Gallery, Sarah has spent over a decade redefining accessibility in the arts. Her innovative approach has empowered individuals who are blind, visually impaired, or have intellectual and developmental disabilities to explore their creative potential through year-round programs and exhibitions, both locally and nationally.
With an MFA from the University of Kansas and a BFA from Wichita State University, Sarah has a strong academic foundation in art and education. She is also a Certified Expressive Arts Education Consultant and holds an Arts in Healthcare certification. Her extensive expertise has earned her widespread recognition, including joining the Arts Council Board of Wichita, and she was recently appointed to the College of Fine Arts Advisory Board at Wichita State University.
Sarah’s work is a driving force in changing the landscape of disability arts, advocating for inclusive practices and greater accessibility. Her leadership has touched countless lives, and her ongoing journey of personal and professional growth continues to challenge the status quo, spotlighting the boundless creativity and capabilities of individuals with disabilities.

Marc Farha
Marc Farha is Co-CEO of CAA ICON, a division of leading entertainment and sports agency
Creative Artists Agency (CAA). CAA ICON is the world’s-leading owner’s representative
and strategic management consulting firm for public and private sports and entertainment
facility owners/operators, professional franchises, and leagues. With more than 100
sports, entertainment, and public assembly projects and over 2,500 consulting engagements,
CAA ICON has managed the development of many of the most successful venues around
the world, including 11 professional sports leagues totaling $45 billion. CAA ICON
offers world-class service in the areas of feasibility and planning, project management,
consulting, and beyond.
Along with Co-CEO Charlie Thornton, Marc is responsible for guiding strategic direction
and new initiatives for the company and leading its business development efforts.
He has served public and private sector clients for more than 30 years and has proven
to be one of the industry’s leading experts in the design and delivery of sports facilities
including New Nissan Stadium, future home to the Tennessee Titans, the renovation
of Capital One Arena, an $800 million transformation to the Washington Wizards/Capitals
arena, New Ryan Field, Northwestern University’s new stadium, and Geodis Park, home
of Nashville SC.
Marc previously led project management teams for seven new arenas in CAA ICON’s project
portfolio: Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, LECOM Harborcenter in Buffalo, New
York; Pegula Ice Arena at Penn State University; PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania;
Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey; T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri;
and Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Each of these arena projects opened
on time and on budget under his leadership. Prior to joining ICON, Marc served as
Director of Design and Construction on the $401 million Empower Field at Mile High
stadium in Denver, Colorado, which serves as home to the Denver Broncos. He has a
Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Wichita State University.

Richard Dinkel
Richard Dinkel is executive vice president and chief financial officer for Koch. In this role, Richard has responsibility for Koch’s finance functions, including accounting, tax, treasury, risk and technology, in addition to Koch Investment Management and Koch Logistics. He serves on the board of directors of Koch, Guardian Industries, Georgia-Pacific, INVISTA, Molex and Infor.
He has more than 35 years of experience in finance and investing for large companies.
Richard serves on the board of directors for JDRF (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) of Missouri and Kansas, the Wichita State School of Business, Wichita State Technical College and Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters.
He attended the University of Kansas and Wichita State University, earning bachelor’s degrees in business administration and accounting. He is a certified public accountant.
