Earlier this Spring, Wichita State University announced seven high school students from Kansas and Oklahoma have become the newest recipients of the Koch Scholarship. These Koch Scholars have been awarded $30,000 (for in-state students) or $45,000 (for out-of-state students) each. The competitive program is based on high academic achievement, work, volunteer and leadership experiences, an essay and an interview process.

Three of the seven recipients have chosen to major in business, so the Barton School talked to each of them to learn more about their interests and excitement for the upcoming fall 2023 semester.

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University will host Erin Cummings as she begins to showcase her first published work, “The Possibility Project: A Guided Journal for Creating What’s Possible.” The kickoff event will be at Woolsey Hall on April 27 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. It will feature a presentation by Cummings titled “Moving With Purpose and Unlocking Possibilities” followed by a book signing opportunity for attendees along with a networking reception. Cummings is a Barton School graduate, president of the school’s Dean’s Alumni Advisory Board and owner of YESyoga.

March 30, 2023 — For the second consecutive year, Wichita State University has been named a Voter Friendly Campus by the Fair Election Center’s Campus Vote Project and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA).

March 30, 2023 - Wichita State University students use the editing suite at Shocker Studios for their video projects. The studio features theater lighting and seating, a 4K digital cinema compliant projector and a 200-inch screen. “No one else has this, certainly no one in the Midwest,” said Justin Rorabaugh, director of Shocker Studios.

March 28, 2023 — Wichita State University’s chapter for Society of Professional Engineers will be hosting Noche de Ciencias for Wichita Public School students and their families from 4:30 to 6:45 p.m. Thursday, March 30 at Wichita North High School.

March 24, 2023 - Paul Mills walked on the court at Charles Koch Arena as head coach of the Shockers for the first time on Thursday. He is well acquainted with the building, however, and how Wichita State fans can fill seats and affect games.

March 22, 2023 – Wichita State University nursing students on the WSU main campus and Kansas State University campus celebrated their Nightingale Nursing Commitment Ceremonies on March 3. Students recited and signed the modern Nightingale Pledge as a commitment to uphold the standards of the nursing profession.
